AlchemyScotty’s Drink of the Week from the Bioshock Infinite spoilercast Lobster Tank!

Alchemy – Fill a low ball glass with ice cubes.  Add 2 oz of vodka and 6 to 8 oz of F-Bomb flavored Rip-It  in that order.  Add a tiny umbrella to your tropical themed low ball glass and watch as the power of Alchemy transforms your reality.

>>> Thanks Nick L! (And thanks to Janel for the glass!)

GunfireScotty’s Drink of the Week from the Immersive Game Worlds episode of Sanity Claws Radio!

Gunfire – Combine 1 cup of strong black tea with 1.5 oz of dark rum.  Stir gently in an ironic beer/coffee mug.

Doctor Who!

DoctorWhoScotty’s Drink of the Week from the XBL vs. PS+ Debate episode of Sanity Claws Radio!

Doctor Who – Combine over ice in a cocktail shaker and gently swirl together 6 oz Dr. Pepper and 3 oz of any schnapps that best represents your favorite of the 11 Doctors and strain into a low ball glass.  I chose Hot Damn! cinnamon schnapps because David Tennant is objectively muy caliente.  And I dropped in 2 maraschino cherries for – well, never you mind what for.  And yes, my screwdriver works on wood.

ScummBarsFinestGrogScotty’s Drink of the Week from the Go-To Games episode of Sanity Claws Radio!

Scumm Bar’s Finest Grog – As a fitting farewell to Lucas Arts, we present a Secret of Monkey Island themed drink this week.  Combine SIX 12 oz wheat beers, 3 oz Kraken rum, 3 oz silver rum, and 1 oz lime juice in a bucket.  Stir gently and serve to your crew mates!  (The lime juice will help stave off scurvy, matey.)

Marshmallow Peep – Combine 2 1/2 oz coconut rum, 1/2 oz pineapple rum, 8 oz pineapple juice, and a splash of lemon juice with ice cubes in a cocktail shaker, shake, and strain into a tall Collins glass.  Gently stir in 2 oz club soda and garnish with a marshmallow peep.  Hoppy Easter!

Ice Frost!

IceFrostScotty’s Drink of the Week from the Pre-Orders episode of the Sanity Claws Radio podcast!

Ice Frost – Combine 4 oz Frangelico hazelnut liqueur with 4 oz milk in a low ball glass and garnish with ground cinnamon.  Or ignore the obvious redundancy in the name and double the milk for a White Russian-esq cocktail that tastes like a glazed doughnut!

>>> Thanks Julie and Paul B!

Irish Trash Can!

IrishTrashCanScotty’s Drink of the Week from the DRM episode of Sanity Claws Radio!

Spring Beer 2013!

Fort Collins Brewery

Maibock – The only technical spring seasonal, the bock style is brewed in fall, lagered all winter, and cracked open in spring.  This maibock (or May-Bock) has everything one would expect it to have; smooth Munich malts with hints of toffee and hops!  ABV – 6.4%

Samuel Adams

Double Bock – This beer has everything a bock has, only more!  In typical Sam Adams fashion, there is a half pound of malt in EVERY bottle.  Great if you like the one particular malt they used, not great if you don’t.  ABV – 9.5%

Oskar Blues Brewery

Gubna Imperial IPA – A veritable garden in a can, the style of over-hopping pale ales is incredibly popular right now.  There is, of course, no gray area with this kind of beer.  Either you love it or hate it when your tongue turns green!  ABV – 10.0%

Spoetzl Brewery

Shiner FM 966 Farmhouse Ale – Farmhouse ales, or Saison style ales if you want to sound fancy, derive their sharp flavors from delicately balanced yeast.  Because of the time-consuming and painstaking task of appropriately balancing these beers, the Saison style is rarely seen these days.  However, the folks down in Shiner, Texas have crafted a wonderful, semi-dry, peppercorn and citrus ale!  Grab this seasonal selection before it’s gone!  ABV – 5.7%

New Belgium Brewing

Dig – This pale ale boasts a smoother, less hoppy finish than an IPA.  The flavor points of tropical and citrus fruits and grassy undertones balance beautifully in this new-to-Michigan beer.  Crisp and refreshing!  ABV – 5.6%

Great Lakes Brewing

Conway’s Irish Ale – Red/Irish ales are very popular around St. Patty’s Day and this bold Irish ale has everything you need to wake up on a stranger’s bathroom floor the following day!  Similar to MIP’s Brik Irish Red, Conway’s features fewer malt types, but a lot more of everything else!  ABV – 6.5%

Socom Bomb!

SocomBombScotty’s Drink of the Week from the Horror Genre episode of Sanity Claws Radio!

Socom Bomb – Drop a double shot glass containing 3 oz of Southern Comfort into a half-full glass containing 8 oz of Lime Wrecker flavored Rip-It energy drink and consume!  Discover that Rip-It is the worst tasting energy drink on the planet, but take solace in knowing that it fits perfectly with a Navy themed drink.  GO ARMY!

>>> Thanks Nick L!

CaipirinhaScotty’s Drink of the Week from the Sony PS4 Press Conference episode of Sanity Claws Radio!

Caipirinha – Combine in a cocktail shaker 1 cup ice cubes, 2 1/2 oz Cachaca (sweet silver rum – it’s from Brazil and made from fermented sugar cane!), 1/4 tsp sugar, and 1 half lime (quartered).  Shake and strain into a double shot glass.  This shot has taken Brazil by storm and the main component (Cachaca) is becoming increasingly available in the US.  The drink is definitely worth a try!  (For an interesting variation, see it’s cousin the Caprioska!)
